Japanese Philosophies to excel in life

We all have heard about the famous Japanese philosophy “IKIGAI” which means ” to have a purpose in life”. Today I will talk about a few other Japanese philosophies that have intrigued me and wish to imbibe in my life.

1. KAIZEN

It means focusing on small improvements every day and not waiting for big improvements but trying to 1% better every day.

2. Hara Hachi Bu

This means to stop eating after you are 80% full. It got popular from Okinawa Diet wherein Okinawa island has one of the highest number of population over 100+.

3. Wabi-sabi

This means that instead of perfection, one should find beauty in imperfection. Love the things they way they are.

4.Shinrin-yoku

Shinin in Japanese means “Forest” and yoku means ” Bath”.

It means that one should spend more time with nature. Whenever you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, go for a walk.

5. Gaman

Gaman in Japanese philosophy that complements ganbaru. It involves the idea of enduring difficult situations with patience and dignity. Translated as “endurance” or “perseverance,” gaman encourages individuals to bear hardships without complaint, maintaining self-control and emotional strength.
